2024 National Black Catholic Women's Gathering comes to Louisville July 26-28
Registration has opened for the National Black Catholic Women’s Gathering, now in its fifth year. The event, organized under the auspices of the National Black Sisters’ Conference, will take place July 26-28 a the Louisville Marriott East in Kentucky.
The NBSC announced the news earlier this year with the theme of “Black Catholic Women: Called, Blessed, and Sent.”
“Join Black Catholic women from across the diaspora as we gather to identify, celebrate, energize and set an agenda to motivate intergenerational Black Catholic Women to engage our talents for becoming and forming missionary disciples active in Church and society for the glory of God and the spiritual and social liberation of Black people,” the organization said on its website.
As in previous years, the NBCWG will take place just ahead of the Black Catholic Joint Conference, which gathers the nation’s Black sisters, priests, religious brothers, seminarians, deacons, and deacons’ wives for a multi-day conference and the conducting of official business for their respective organizations. This year’s Joint Conference will run from July 28-31, also in Louisville.
The women’s gathering will consist of prayer, worship, fellowship, and workshops on justice, social media, community, self-care, and empowerment.
The conference will take place during a packed summer of events for the Black Catholic community, including the Archbishop Lyke Conference in Texas from June 18-22, the Institute for Black Catholic Studies from June 30-July 19 in New Orleans, and the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary National Convention in Oklahoma City from July 19-24.
This year will mark the first Black Catholic Women’s Gathering since 2018, when the event was held in New Orleans. The previous iteration was held in 2010 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The cost for the conference in Louisville starts at $250 for NBSC members and associate members, with the price increasing by $50 for nonmembers. The registration form is available on the NBSC website with a deadline of June 19. Lodging is not included, though a discounted rate is available.
Vendors can reserve a table before the conference registration deadline at $250 per table, which does not include admission to the conference.
Questions concerning the gathering can be directed to the NBSC at (202) 529-9250 or nbsc@nbsc68.org.
