The national conference for the Catholic Campus Ministry Association (CCMA) has been announced for May 24-26th in San Antonio, and will feature a number of African-American speakers.
“CALLED 22” will be held in-person at the Omni La Mansión del Rio and was announced in detail on Tuesday.

This year’s event will feature over 30 workshops and four learning tracks, including those for campus ministry directors, diversity and inclusion outreach, ministry on Catholic campuses, and the topic of mental health.
The speakers include Auxiliary Bishop of New Orleans Fernand Cheri III OFM, a Black prelate who serves on the CCMA board as episcopal moderator.
He is also one of the nation’s few prelates with campus ministry experience in the 21st century, having served in the role at his alma mater Xavier University of Louisiana and at Quincy University in Illinois prior to his elevation to the episcopacy in 2015.
Leading a session on the phenomenon of burnout in campus ministry will be Regina Boyd, a licensed mental health counselor and therapist from Lake Mary, Florida.
Her practice openly integrates her Catholic spirituality, and she has been featured by Ave Maria Press, Dr. Mario Sacasa’s Always Hope podcast, and the Witness to Love Podcast. She is also a contributor to FemCatholic.
The conference is open to all campus ministry professionals, and registration is open now at an early-bird rate of $450 (CCMA members receive a $50 discount). An optional session on intercultural competency scheduled for May 27th adds $99 to the registration fee.
