Josephites hosting first-ever virtual vocations retreat
The nation's only order of priests exclusively dedicated to serving African Americans is, like many other religious societies, going virtual.
On Saturday, December 19th from 10 to noon CST, the Society of St. Joseph of the Sacred Heart (aka the Josephites) will host a brief online vocations retreat for men aged 18 to 40.
The society had been in discussions since earlier in the year on whether or not to hold a virtual event of this type, and the decision has now come.
The 2-hour event will include a number of different sessions, including a presentation by Josephite Fr Joseph Doyle, a former novitiate director.
Interested parties can register here.
Fr Stephen Sohe, SSJ, the Josephites vocations director, can be reached at vocations@josephites.com.
Nate Tinner-Williams is co-founder of Black Catholic Messenger, a priesthood applicant with the Josephites, and a ThM student w/ the Institute for Black Catholic Studies at Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA).
