On Wednesday, January 13th, from 8 to 10 p.m. EST, the USCCB will begin Step 3 in its “Journeying Together” Intercultural Dialogue series for young adults, kicking off multiple upcoming sessions led by specific ethnic communities.
This follows the series’ kickoff event last July, and the intra-cultural “Family Conversation” sessions held from September to December.
The series as a whole is the US bishops’ follow-up to the global Synod of Bishops in 2018, which dealt with young adults and helped produce Pope Francis’ “Christus Vivit” exhortation (synthesized here).
The virtual gatherings constituting Step 3 will occur monthly through June, as follows:
- Wednesday, January 13th, 8 to 10 p.m. EST (Native American and Alaska Natives Catholic family)
- Sunday, February 21st, 3 to 5 p.m. EST (African-American Catholic family)
- Saturday, March 6th, 3 to 5 p.m. EST
- Wednesday, April 21st, 7 to 10 p.m. EST
- Thursday, May 27th, 8 to 10 p.m. EST
- Thursday, June 24th, 8 to 10 p.m. EST
Each session will be led by a different “family”, which the bishops will announce in a “special reveal” via email. (Signups here.)
Steps 4 and 5 are scheduled to follow later this year—an in-person event and a nationwide distribution of final documents, respectively.
